A Day of Impact and Connection: Akilah & Davis College Alumni visit to GGC Girls in Musanze

Some visits go beyond observation they become moments of connection, generosity, and shared purpose. Our recent visit to Musanze was one of those moments.

As we spent time with our GGC girls who are actively working and building their futures, we were reminded of the power of opportunity, community, and support. This special day was made even more meaningful by the presence of Akilah & Davis College Alumni, who joined us to connect with the girls and support their journey.

Where Skills Meet Opportunity

In Musanze, our girls are no longer just learning they are applying their skills and stepping confidently into entrepreneurship.

In the tailoring section, the girls proudly presented their work. From beautifully crafted garments to detailed finishing, every piece reflected dedication and growth. They shared their experiences, explained their process, and even invited the visitors to try on some of the clothes they had made turning the moment into one of pride and celebration.

At the beauty salon, the atmosphere was just as inspiring. The girls demonstrated their skills in hairdressing and beauty care with confidence and professionalism. It was clear that these were not just skills being practiced, but livelihoods being built.

A Visit Filled with Generosity

The visit was made even more impactful by the presence of Akilah & Davis College Alumni, who came not only to see the work being done, but to actively support it.

They brought with them thoughtful donations including livelihood, shoes, clothes, kitenge fabrics, and other essential items gifts that were received with gratitude and joy. But beyond the material support, their presence carried something deeper: encouragement, inspiration, and a strong message that the girls’ efforts are seen and valued.

Their engagement with the girls listening, interacting, and celebrating their progress created meaningful connections that will last far beyond the day.

More Than a Visit—A Shared Journey

What made this visit truly special was the spirit of togetherness. The Akilah & Davis College Alumni didn’t just come as guests they became part of the experience. They stepped into the girls’ world, appreciated their work, and shared in their joy.

These moments matter. They remind the girls that they are not alone that there is a community standing behind them, believing in their potential.

Hope in Motion

As the day came to a close, what remained was a deep sense of hope and possibility.

Hope in the confidence of girls who are now building something of their own.Hope in the support of partners and communities who continue to show up.Hope in the small moments that create big change.

At Grace Girls Coalition, we believe that empowerment is not a one-time event, it is a continuous journey built through skills, support, and meaningful connections.

And in Musanze, that journey is unfolding beautifully.
