Nyagatare Camp Comes to a Close: Celebrating Growth, Confidence, and New Beginnings!

After two weeks of learning, connection, and personal growth, the Grace Girls Coalition Nyagatare Camp has officially come to an end, marking the beginning of a new chapter for 24 young girls from Mimuli Sector, Nyagatare District.

The camp created a safe and empowering space where girls developed essential life skills, built confidence, and discovered their strengths through different learning activities and experiences. Throughout the two weeks, the girls participated in sessions focused on entrepreneurship, communication, leadership, personal development, and other practical skills designed to prepare them for the next stage of their journey.

As the camp came to a close, the girls celebrated their achievements and the progress they made. Each girl returned home with a gift package that included a sack of rice and a pair of shoes, symbolizing the support and encouragement they carry as they transition into their next phase: a six-month practical skills training program.

The closing ceremony was also a moment to recognize excellence and commitment.

Top-performing girls were honored for their outstanding efforts through different awards, including the Leadership Award, Academic Award, and Talent Awards. These recognitions celebrated not only their achievements during the camp but also their dedication, creativity, and positive attitude.

We also expressed gratitude to its dedicated volunteers who contributed their time, knowledge, and energy to make the camp a success. Penelope Kabatesi from Gashora Girls Academy and Natete Douceline from École des Sciences de Musanze were recognized with certificates and gifts as a token of appreciation for their generous service and commitment to empowering young girls.

Beyond the activities and lessons, the greatest achievement of the camp was witnessing the transformation of the girls. Over the two weeks, many demonstrated remarkable growth in self-confidence, personal hygiene, discipline, teamwork, and public speaking. For some, the camp became a space for healing, rebuilding hope, and overcoming challenges from their past experiences.

As they leave the camp, these 24 girls carry more than new skills, they carry renewed confidence, stronger voices, and the belief that they can shape their own futures.

Grace Girls Coalition remains committed to creating opportunities where girls can learn, grow, and thrive.

The end of this camp is not a goodbye; it is the beginning of a six-month journey filled with learning, practice, and continued empowerment.

Together, we continue building a future where every girl has the confidence and opportunity to reach her full potential.
